Spine, orthopedic robotic milestones in 45 days

Here are six spine and orthopedic robotic achievements that Becker’s has reported on since Jan. 7:

1. Andrew Chung, MD, performed the first biportal endoscopic spinal fusion with Medtronic’s Mazor robot.

2. Stryker’s Mako shoulder robot earned FDA approval.

3. Patrick Kim, MD, completed the first robotic case with the ExcelsiusGPS spine robot at Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital.

4. Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based OrthoSC surgeon Justin Brothers, MD, performed 1,000 robotic joint replacements using the DePuy Synthes Velys system.

5. Think Surgical’s Tmini miniature robotic system has been used in over 500 total knee replacement procedures.

6. Think Surgical’s TMini robot was used with Medacta International’s GMK Sphere implant for the first time.
