New Jersey hospital adds spine robot

Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J. added the ExcelsiusGPS spine robot, according to a Nov. 20 news release shared with Becker’s.

The robot helps surgeons plan cases, imcrease precision and reduce radiation use. Neurosurgeon Kimberly Brooke Ashayeri, MD, is among the surgeons leading use of the robot.

“As the demand for surgeries continues to rise, we can optimize the utilization of our operating rooms and ensure timely access to surgical interventions for our patients with the aid of this robotic platform,” Muhammad Feteiha, MD, chair of orthopedics at the hospital, said in the release.
