Hospital for Special Surgery names chief of primary sports medicine

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery named Daphne Scott, MD, as chief of primary sports medicine.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Scott succeeds John DiFiori, MD, who led the department since 2018. Dr. Scott will step into the role Dec. 1, according to an Oct. 21 news release.

2. Dr. Scott specializes in nonsurgical treatment of acute, chronic and overuse injuries. She will oversee 25 physicians across 14 locations.

3. Dr. Scott earned her medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno and completed her residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.

4. Dr. Scott is also lead team physician for the New York Knicks NBA team.
