The American Osteopathic Foundation will present its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award to Peter Ajluni, DO, a retired orthopedic surgeon and former president of the American Osteopathic Association.
Dr. Ajluni will receive the award Oct. 23 at the AOF Honors Gala in Las Vegas. The foundation created the award in 2006 to recognize people whose contributions have advanced the osteopathic profession, according to a Sept. 28 news release.
Dr. Ajluni entered private practice in 1974. He served as a senior orthopedic surgeon at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, Mich., formerly Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center, where he was also chief of staff and later vice chair of the board of trustees.
He led the AOA in 2007 and chaired the AOF board in 2017. He currently sits on the board of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
The AOF has funded the osteopathic profession for more than 75 years through scholarships, grants, research and global humanitarian work.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
