Medacta, Think Surgical launch knee replacement partnership

The Medacta Group has partnered with orthopedic robot manufacturer Think Surgical to provide its robotic, wireless hand-held TMINI miniature robotic system for total knee replacement surgery supporting both GMK Sphere and GMK SpheriKA, a knee implant designed specifically for kinematic alignment.

The Think Surgical TMINI system, when combined with GMK Sphere and GMK SpheriKA, complements the Medacta portfolio of enabling technologies designed for knee arthroplasty, providing surgeons with a robotic-assisted option to execute 3D CT-based preoperative planning, according to an Aug. 29 Medacta news release

This system will also complement the MySolutions personalized ecosystem, a network designed to improve patient outcomes.

While the MySolutions ecosystem remains central to Medacta, the partnership with Think Surgical will allow for the continued evaluation of robotics in the U.S. and Medacta’s specialized focus in the rapidly growing ASC segment, the release said.
