Surgeon completes 1st robotic-assisted reverse shoulder arthroplasty in California

Hafiz Kassam, MD, a shoulder surgeon affiliated with Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute, has completed the first robotic-assisted reverse shoulder arthroplasty in California.

Dr. Kassam is the fifth surgeon in the world to utilize the technology, according to a June 21 LinkedIn post.

The new technology was created by medical technology company Zimmer Biomet.
