4 orthopedic data breaches in the 1st month of 2024

Less than one month into 2024, Becker’s has already reported on four healthcare data breaches that have affected orthopedic and spine patients.

Four practices experiencing data breaches: 

1. Oklahoma City-based SSM Health and SSM Health Bone and Joint Hospital notified its patients that they may have been caught in a data breach impacting SSM’s business partner Navvis. 

2. Greensboro, N.C.-based Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive consumer information. 

3. Wichita-based Kansas Joint and Spine Specialists reported a data breach to its patients that affected 83,869 people’s records. 

4. Des Moines (Iowa) Orthopaedic Surgeons was hit with a data security incident that affected certain protected health information.
