The publication in the Journal of Spine Surgery evaluated outcomes of patients with sacroiliac joint pseudoarthrosis after failed direct lateral fixation, according to a Jan. 6 news release. Researchers introduced a percutaneous lateral-oblique transfixation technique with two variable-threaded screws while preserving the original implants.

The paper is the first article to show “a lateral-oblique transfixation technique with two variable-threaded screws for successful salvage of SIJ pseudoarthrosis after direct lateral fixation without implant removal.”
