The center is the only one in the Dayton region that offers the service. The increased demand is mostly attributed to the rising aging population, the report said.
The procedure takes about one hour, and patients are able to go home two to three hours later, allowing them to recover at home.
Carrie Carusone, the joint and spine program director, said the center expects to perform nearly 200 replacement procedures this year.
The center uses the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution from DePuy Synthes, the report said.
