Powder River Surgery Center becomes 1st in Wyoming to use Rosa knee robot

Gillette, Wyo.-based Powder Surgery Center is the first surgery center in the state to utilize the Rosa Knee robotic surgery assistant, according to a June 24 report by the Gillette News Record.

The robot was secured through a partnership with Zimmer Biomet. To meet the requirements of the deal, the center needs to complete 100 procedures with the robot in the next 12 months. 

The Rosa system creates a surgery plan for each patient with its 3D mapping capabilities. The robot helps the surgeon increase accuracy and precision.

The debut procedure was performed by Stanford Israelsen, MD, the report said.
