Coverage for the procedure went into effect on June 15, and it is now available to Cigna members in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, according to a June 20 press release.

Recently Palmetto GBA, a Medicare contractor covering patients in seven states, also expanded access to basivertebral nerve ablation for more than 5 million patients.

More than 10,000 patients have been treated with Relievant Medsystems’ minimally invasive Intracept procedure, the only FDA-cleared treatment for chronic vertebrogenic low back pain.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
