A meta-analysis by the Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery looked at 25 studies comparing Visionaire with traditional instrumentation, Smith+Nephew said in a March 6 news release. Each study looked at metrics such as alignment accuract, intraoperative outcomes and postoperative outcomes.
The studies show that patients who had surgery with custom instruments had a 40 percent reduction in odds of an outlier in the mechanical axis, more efficient surgeries, a 53 percent reduction in odds of needing a blood transfusion and an 11.1 percent reduction in length of hospital stay.
