4 spine, orthopedic robotic milestones in 2023

Becker’s has reported on four milestones in spine and orthopedic robotic surgery so far in 2023:

1. LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Va., reached its 100th surgery with the Mazor X Stealth Edition spine robot, the hospital said Jan. 20.

2. Chad Weber, DO, a surgeon at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, Ohio, has performed his 1,000th robotic-assisted orthopedic procedure using Stryker Mako’s SmartRobotics.

3. Hakeem Shakir, MD, of OU Health in Oklahoma City, completed the first robot-assisted sacroiliac joint fusion using Globus Medical’s ExcelsiusGPS in Oklahoma.

4. Timothy Walker, MD, recently completed his 1,000th robotic-assisted joint replacement using Stryker Mako SmartRobotics technology.
