Virginia hospital hits 100 surgeries with spine robot

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Va., reached its 100th surgery with the Mazor X Stealth Edition spine robot, the hospital said Jan. 20.

James Leipzig, MD, completed the milestone surgery, according to a news release. The robot helps surgeons plan and execute surgeries with improved precision, smaller incisions and quicker recovery time for patients. 

LewisGale Medical Center has strengthened its robotic arsenel in recent months. In August, the hospital began using the Mako robot for total knee replacements.
