Dr. Poelstra, of the Nevada Spine Clinic in Las Vegas, completed more than 340 cases in the first seven months of 2022, the practice said. He has more than a decade of experience using several surgical robots and has expertise with the Mazor X.

“It’s a completely different surgery altogether, so it takes some time to get comfortable with the nuances, capabilities and workflow of the robot,” Dr. Poelstra said in the release. “The upsides can be tremendous. Along with shorter OR time, doctors can expect reduced complication and readmission rates, along with the ability to get patients mobile on the same day.”
