The first patient to undergo the procedure was a woman who was injured in a mountain biking accident, the report said. The BEAR implant, which stands for Bridge Enhanced ACL Restoration, uses a patient’s blood to restore the ACL on its own.
Tim Wang, MD, performed the case, which is the first in San Diego County. The woman was able to leave the clinic within an hour after surgery, the report said.
