HCA Florida hospital among first in the state to offer robotic-arm hip replacement

HCA Florida Mercy Hospital in Miami has become one of the first in the state to offer Stryker Mako robotic-arm assisted total hip replacements.

Edward Silverman, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at HCA Florida Biscayne Bay Orthopedics at Mercy Hospital, specializes in performing the procedure. 

Dr. Silverman recently performed his 100th procedure, according to an Aug. 22 news release. 

“The accuracy and ability to make fine tune adjustments is not possible without robotic technology,” Dr. Silverman said in the news release. “The combination of these features of the system has the potential to lead to better outcomes and higher patient satisfaction as many can resume their active lifestyles.”
