Retired orthopedic practice founder honored by community

A Florida sports medicine specialist and practice founder was honored by his community, News4Jax reported Aug. 27.

Stephen Lucie, MD, will be honored before the opening game of the 2021 W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractors Bold City Showcase, which kicks off the high school football season.

He founded Jacksonville (Fla.) Orthopaedic Institute in the mid-1990s. He also worked as a sports medicine physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Bolles School in Jacksonville.

Dr. Lucie retired in November 2020 after almost 40 years of practice.
