NuVasive appoints independent board chair

NuVasive named Daniel Wolterman as independent board chair, the company announced May 19.

Mr. Wolterman joined NuVasive’s board in July 2015 and was its lead independent director since May 2020. He has nearly 40 years of experience in healthcare, including as president and CEO of Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System.

“It is an honor to be appointed NuVasive Board Chair, and I am confident in the Company’s ability to transform spine surgery and advance patient care,” Mr. Wolterman said in a news release.

Mr. Wolterman succeeds Gregory Lucier in the role. Mr. Lucier was NuVasive’s CEO from 2015 to 2018, and he stepped down from the board of directors May 18.
