A timeline of Medtronic’s deals this year:
January
1. Medtronic on Jan. 8 acquired Stimgenics, developer of the Differential Target Multiplexed spinal cord stimulation therapy.
February
2. Medtronic announced on Feb. 13 the acquisition of Digital Surgery, a British company developing artificial intelligence, data analytics and digital education and training software for computerized surgery.
April
3. Medtronic quietly acquired Laser Associated Sciences, the maker of a blood flow monitoring device called the FlowMet-R, in April, according to the Orange County Business Journal.
July
4. In July, Medtronic announced an agreement to acquire Medicrea, a spine device company that includes artificial intelligence, predictive modeling and patient-specific implant offerings.
August
5. Medtronic announced on Aug. 11 the planned acquisition of Companion Medical, the privately held manufacturer behind InPen, an FDA-cleared smart insulin pen system.
September
6. Medtronic said Sept. 30 it would acquire Avenu Medical, a device maker that specializes in making AV fistulae for treatment of patients with end-stage renal disease.
October
7. Medtronic acquired Ai Biomed Corp., according to an Oct. 29 press release. Ai Biomed is the developer of the PTeye system, which helps confirm parathyroid tissue identified visually by the physician.
