The suit claims the man experienced worsening pain on his left side that radiated into his thigh four months after he was implanted with the Medtronic pedicle screw in a November 2016 spinal fusion.
The man had a CT scan in early 2018 that allegedly showed the broken screw, which he then had replaced in a revision surgery.
The suit charges Medtronic with negligence and is seeking at least $25,000 in compensation from the court.
Medtronic provided the following statement with regard to the suit:
“Medtronic is aware of the lawsuit that has been filed by Mr. Moody involving his spinal fusion procedure. Medtronic takes patient safety very seriously and will investigate the allegations in any complaint alleging issues with our products. We intend to work with legal counsel to defend our product and address the allegations in the suit. Because this is a matter was only recently brought to our attention, we cannot comment further.”
