California hospital performs 2,000th robotic surgery

Los Angeles-based Providence Tarzana Medical Center performed its 2,000th robotic surgery Oct. 3, radio station KHTS reports.

What you should know:

1. The hospital established its robotic surgery program in January 2015.

2. The hospital said the average robotic surgery program completes around 100 to 200 robotic surgeries a year.

3. The hospital recently upgraded its program by installing Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci Xi system.
