Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Basil Besh of FORM Hand, Wrist & Elbow Institute

Basil R. Besh, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and founder of the Fremont (Calif.) Orthopaedic and Rehabilitative Medicine Hand, Wrist and Elbow Institute.

Dr. Besh specializes in hand, wrist and elbow conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, scaphoid fracture and lateral epicondylitis.

In October, automotive and energy company Tesla appointed Dr. Besh to oversee its new health clinics.

Dr. Besh serves as chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ board of councilors. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Medical Association, California Medical Association and Western Orthopaedic Association.

After earning his medical degree from Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Besh completed his residency and a hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City.
