Douglas E. Padgett, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Dr. Padgett is also affiliated with James J. Peters VA Medical Center in New York City.

With expertise in revision total joint surgery, Dr. Padgett serves as chief of adult reconstruction and joint replacement as well as chief emeritus of hip service at Hospital for Special Surgery.

Dr. Padgett also specializes in total hip and knee replacement, knee and hip arthroscopic surgery and hip disorders related to dance.

In 2015, Dr. Padgett received The Hip Society's Otto Aufranc Award for his research on total hip arthroplasty.

Dr. Padgett is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a The Hip Society and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons member.

After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, Dr. Padgett completed his residency at Hospital for Special Surgery and an adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery fellowship at The Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago.
