Orthopedic surgeon & his Bob Marley tribute band to perform concert in support of Florida hospital: 4 notes

Orthopedic surgeon John Williams, Jr., MD, will perform with his Bob Marley tribute band, John Truth and Reflexx, at Lady Lake, Fla.-based La Hacienda Recreation Center Nov. 10, to benefit The Villages (Fla.) Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation, Villages News reports.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Williams is an orthopedic surgeon at Advanced Orthopedics Institute in The Villages, where he serves as director of its total joint program. He is also chairman of surgery at Central Florida Health in Leesburg.

2. Organized as fundraisers, Dr. Williams and his band perform reggae concerts a few times each year. Their concert in May 2017 also benefitted The Villages Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation. 

3. Dr. Williams, who is a “lifelong” Bob Marley fan, is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the band.

4. After earning his medical degree from and completing his residency at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Williams underwent fellowship training in adult hip and knee construction at Columbus, Ohio-based Joint Implant Surgeons.
