Dr. Shimkus was an orthopedic surgeon at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York City. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed his residency at Downstate Medical Center in New York City.
He was a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Bath, N.Y. Dr. Shimkus held patents for an X-ray film support and adjustable elastic bandage.
