Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Mark Kurd of Rothman Institute

Mark F. Kurd, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Philadelphia-based Rothman Institute.

Dr. Kurd is an assistant orthopedic surgery professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he received his medical degree. Dr. Kurd underwent spine surgery fellowship training at Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center.

Dr. Kurd specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery. He currently serves as the Association for Collaborative Spine Research’s president and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery’s program chair. Dr. Kurd is interested in novel approaches to perioperative pain management. His research has been published in a variety of scientific journals.
