UF Health Pain Medicine appointed Sanjeev Kumar, MD, chief of its Gainesville operations.
Dr. Kumar is a professor of anesthesiology and director of the Endoscopic Spine Surgery Fellowship, according to a Sept. 18 news release from the UF Department of Anesthesiology.
As chief, he will oversee clinical operations, lead administration and ensure strategic growth. His responsibilities also include creating clinical protocols, ensuring quality and safety across interventional services, supervising credentialing and collaborating with other administrators to establish performance standards for faculty and staff.
Dr. Kumar joined the UF Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in 2014 and became a professor in 2025. He was instrumental in bringing endoscopic spine surgery to UF Health, which led to the creation of the Endoscopic Spine Surgery Fellowship in 2023.
