Here are five things to know:

1. The KG1 has a patented design to create a less invasive procedure.

2. The tool features a cannula, plunger and detachable funnel. Its bi-portal design places graft material into both sides of the disc space, opening an area for cage insertion.

3. The tool has demonstrated the ability to decrease spinal fusion failure rates by 68 percent in clinical testing.

4. Additionally, KG1 is intended to decrease postoperative pain and infection risk as well as require less bone morphogenetic protein.

5. Kleiner Device Labs reports the tool yields savings for hospitals and payers because of fewer remedial procedures and higher operating room throughput.
