Stryker names new board member: 4 insights

1. Previously Ms. Brainerd served as president and CEO of HealthPartners, a nonprofit healthcare organization. She retired from HealthPartners on June 1, 2017 after 15 years at the helm. Ms. Brainerd also spent eight years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota before joining HealthPartners in 1992.

 

2. Ms. Brainerd’s tenure on the board was effective Aug. 1, 2017.

 

3. Ms. Brainerd has served on the board of directors for Possis Medical, a developer of medical devices for cardiovascular and vascular treatment markets, and SurModics, who creates modification technologies for intravascular medical devices.

 

4. Ms. Brainerd is one of the founding CEOs and former chair of the Itasca Project, a group which addresses issues impacting long term economic growth.
