Dr. Philip Minotti performs hip surgery on Connecticut state senator: 4 highlights

Philip A. Minotti, MD, an orthopedic specialist performed hip surgery on Connecticut State Senate president Martin M. Looney of New Haven, Conn., on June 15, the CT Post reports.

Here are four highlights:

 

1. Medication for a form of rheumatoid arthritis was believed to be the cause of the hip degeneration. The arthritis had also settled in his back and upper neck.

 

2. Dr. Minotti performed the 90 minute procedure at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn.

 

3. In late December, Mr. Looney had kidney surgery to treat his deteriorating kidney.

 

4. Mr. Looney is expected to be back in the capital before the end of the month to contribute to the budget negotiations.
