Ms. Vonn, an Olympic gold medalist, fell on her head the week before the championships while training in Austria. She received a head scan the day after her crash but was not banned from racing. She also passed a series of concussion protocol exams multiple times but decided to pull out of the events after consulting with Dr. Sterett.
She said that the symptoms she experienced included a slow reaction time and the feeling that she was “skiing in a fog.”
