Kenneth Montgomery, MD, team physician for the New York Jets, recently consulted with Mark Sanchez, a Jets quarterback, about a shoulder injury, according to a New York Daily News report.
Mr. Sanchez suffered the injury in December during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was on "active rest," which included rehabilitation exercises. After reviewing several MRI from Mr. Sanchez and consulting with other physicians, Dr. Montgomery decided not to perform surgery during the off-season.
Mr. Sanchez's current collective bargaining agreement expires in March, and Dr. Montgomery will give him a precautionary check-up at that time.
