Spinal Simplicity brings patent count to 52 — 5 highlights

Spinal Simplicity, based in Overland Park, Kan., received six new patents in 2016.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. With these additional patents, the company now possesses 52 U.S. and global patents covering more than 17 spinal and orthopedics technologies.

 

2. The company now has 16 U.S. patents for its technologies.

 

3. The company has regulatory clearnce for its Minuteman interspinous process fusion implant, which is designed for the non-cervical spine as an alternative to traditional pedicle screws.

 

4. The Minuteman implant includes a plating system that is intended for supplemental fusion for degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, trauma or tumor.

 

5. Spinal Simplicity offers a minimally invasive “lateral approach to the posterior aspect of the spine through an approximate one-inch incision,” said Todd Moseley, co-founder and CEO of Spinal Simplicity.
