Dr. Alfred Bonati Treats Failed Back Surgery Syndrome

In a recent study conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, researchers reviewed 1,250 patients with disc degeneration, disc herniation or radiculopathy and found that the patients who didn’t have surgery were more likely to return to work, according to a Bonati Spine Institute news release.

Half of the patients in the study received fusion surgery in two or more vertebrae, while the other half did not. After two years, 25 percent of the patients who underwent surgery returned to work, compared with the 67 percent of patients who didn’t have surgery. Researchers also found there was a 41 percent increase in the use of painkillers among the patients who had surgery.

Dr. Bonati often treats patients with failed back surgery syndrome who received traditional open back surgery performed at other facilities. He promotes the use of The Bonati Spine Procedures, which uses endoscopic laser technology to treat spinal disorders.
