Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Cobb’s method of treating thumb arthritis is a modification of the original arthroscopic technique that has shown positive long-term results.
2. When performing his new treatment, Dr. Cobb employs a new anesthesia technique which allows patients to go home after surgery, sleep in their own bed and usually remain pain-free for around 18 to 36 hours after surgery.
3. The new anesthesia technique was developed by Donald H. Lalonde, MD.
4. Dr. Cobb is the director of the Hand and Uper Extremity Center at Orthopaedic Specialists in Davenport, Iowa.
5. Dr. Cobb earned his medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He also completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Texas in Austin.
