Here are five takeaways:
1. The patented Kiio FLEX software features more than 1,500 therapist-certified fully animated exercise templates.
2. The technology allows therapists to accurately communicate prescribed range of motion, timing and force targets to patients.
3. The software combines with the Kiio Sensor, a handheld portable wireless device which measures and calculates complex muscle function metrics, to allow physical therapists to objectively evaluate patients and track their progress through rehabilitation.
4. Wellbe’s Connected Care system has helped hospitals engage their patients pre- and post-surgery in becoming active participants in their own care. Eighty-five percent of the hospitals’ patients have completed their prescribed exercise regimens because of the Connected Care system.
5. “Studies show that use of preoperative physical therapy in total joint replacement yields a 29 percent decrease in post-acute care needs, resulting in up to $1200 savings in the average cost of the episode of care,” said Dave Grandin, CEO of Kiio. “The combination of Kiio and Wellbe is a perfect fit to mitigate risk and improve care consistent with the new Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model mandated by Medicare to start April 1, 2016.”
