The Navio robotic system from Blue Belt Technologies is available in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers around the country. Here are five things to know:
1. The Navio system is a CT-free intraoperative registration, planning and navigation platform for surgeons to build patient-specific surgical plans.
2. The robotic-controlled handpiece can assist the surgeon in bone preparations with the precise hand-held, freehand sculpting technique.
3. The system integrates easily into knee-replacement workflows and can shorten the time for preoperative procedures. The surgeon registers the patient during the procedure using kinematic reconstruction and anatomic landmarks to balance the knee ligaments for a more natural feel.
4. Silver Lake Medical Center physicians plan to use the technology for several partial knee replacement procedures this year.
5. Silver Lake Medical Center is a 212 bed hospital with medical surgical services as well as behavioral health and psychiatric services on its campuses.
