Here are five facts:
1. The EXPEDIUM VERSE Spinal System is an all-in-one pedicle screw system.
2. Surgeons may use the system to perform several correction maneuvers during spinal fusion surgery.
3. The system is designed to possibly reduce the number of screws and decrease screw pullout risks.
4. Including a “Correction Key,” the system provides for conversion to many screw types, expanding implant functionality.
5. Reducing the number of instrument trays to as few as four, the system also contributes to reducing sterilization costs by 84 percent.
“In my opinion, it may fundamentally change the way surgeons approach scoliosis by offering any number of ways to engage the rod and derotate the spine in order to truly achieve three dimensional correction,” said Suken A. Shah, MD, division chief, Spine and Scoliosis Center, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.
