Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. George B. Holmes Jr. of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush

George B. Holmes Jr., MD, is a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, as well as an associate professor and director of the foot and ankle section at Rush University Medical Center.

Additionally, Dr. Holmes has been on the editorial board of Foot & Ankle International since 1989 and in June 2014, received high rankings in patient communication in CMS’ national survey of patient experience. Dr. Holmes was also voted among the top 10 to 15 percent of Top Doctors in America by U.S. News & World Report and Castle Connolly.

 

Dr. Holmes has served as the director of foot and ankle at the University of California at Davis, and has also served as medical consultant for the Sacramento Kings professional basketball team, the Boston Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet and more.

 

After receiving his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., Dr. Holmes completed his orthopedic residency at the Harvard Combines Orthopaedic Residency followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Boston’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Holmes also completed a foot and ankle surgery fellowship in Oakland, Calif., under Roger Mann, MD.
