The article, called “Ultrasonic Total Uncinectomy: A Novel Technique for Complete Anterior Decompression of Cervical Nerve Roots,” details the use of the Misonix BoneScalpel by Peyman Pakzaban, MD. Dr. Pakzaban used the device in 38 patients undergoing a single-or multi-level ultrasonic total uncinectomy in conjunction with an ACDF procedure. According to the study results he encountered no vertebral artery injuries or dural lacerations.
The Misonix BoneScalpel is an ultrasonic device that provides surgeons with a bone-cutting instrument that is also soft tissue sparing.
