The company first marketed the vitamin E polyethylene in a total anatomic shoulder offering last year. This marks the first time an orthopedic device company offered blended vitamin E polyethylene throughout its entire shoulder product portfolio.

The technology is designed for wear reduction, eliminating oxidation and to maintain mechanical properties. The shoulder prosthesis has shown to reduce wear rates by 92 percent while maintaining the yield strength of conventional polyethylene.

This exciting news for the company comes on the heels of a positive second quarter financial report where net sales were up 6.5 percent from the same period last year, reaching $313.9 million. The company has also made a few executive changes during the first six months of 2014.
