Globus Medical to Acquire Robotic Device Maker Excelsius Surgical

Globus Medical has acquired Excelsius Surgical, a company developing next generation surgical robotic positioning platforms for spine, brain and therapeutic uses.

Excelsius’ robotic system helps with navigation, as well as implant sizing, positioning and placement.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Globus is expected to obtain the robotic system’s FDA clearance by 2015 with the sale finalizing in 2016.
