10 Tips for Sending Well-Perceived Emails

Here are 10 tips to ensure that emails are perceived as precise and polite:

 

1. Keep e-mails brief.
2. Watch your tone and use words like “please” and “thank you.”
3. Don’t assume the tone or intent of an e-mail you receive.
4. Don’t reply when irritated or angry.
5. Send one email per subject.
6. Use zip files when sending attachments.
7. Always use “if –then” options as this helps cut down on going back and forth about a particular issue.
8. Avoid typing in all small caps or all upper caps.
9. Limit text formatting.
10. Sign off with care.
