Scientists Regenerate Functional Nerves in Mice With Spinal Injuries

A new study in The Journal of Neuroscience has found a treatment that facilitates nerve regeneration in mice with spinal cord injuries.

Grafts made of the enzyme chonrdoitinase and fibroblast growth factor and applied to the spinal cord injury site generated nerve re-growth of up to 12 mm.  
 
The re-grown nerves facilitated improved bladder function in treated mice as compared to untreated mice, which is a first-time result in nerve regeneration studies thus far.
