Cleveland Clinic's Dr. Richard Parker Treats Cleveland Cavaliers Players

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Richard Parker, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic and head team physician of the Cleveland Cavaliers, has examined Daniel Gibson and Anderson Varejao for different injuries in the past week, according to various reports.

Mr. Gibson suffered a left ankle sprain at a game last Wednesday against Toronto, according to a report from Fearthesword report. Dr. Parker examined him, and an MRI confirmed the sprain. Mr. Gibson will remain in Cleveland to receive further treatment while the rest of the team will go on a five-game road trip over the next week.

Mr. Varejao will be out for the remainder of the season after injuring his right foot and ankles during a game last Thursday, according to an ABC news report. After an MRI at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, it was determined that he had an injury to the peroneus longus tendon. A follow-up MRI was performed at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix to confirm the injury. Dr. Parker will coordinate Mr. Varejao's additional consultations and treatment in Cleveland.
