Michelle Carlson, MD, performed surgery on forward Carl Landry earlier today, according to a Sacramento Bee report.
Here are seven things to know about Dr. Carlson:
1. Dr. Carlson repaired Mr. Landry's torn ligament.
2. Dr. Carlson works at the Hospital for Special Surgery and predicts Mr. Landry will be out four to five months.
3. Dr. Carlson initially did not believe surgery was a necessity after evaluating Mr. Landry's wrist.
4. Dr. Carlson's prognosis changed once the pain remained constant throughout the off season.
5. Dr. Carlson has won several awards including the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society/Zimmer Research Grant and the Lewis Clark Wagner Research Award.
6. Dr. Carlson specializes in sports-related hand injuries and fractures, pediatric hand conditions, hand disorders in women and neurologic injuries in the upper extremity.
7. Dr. Carlson is the director and founder of the Children and Adolescent Hand and Arm Center.
