Designed with multidimensional, texturized titanium, Ti-ACTIVE, MIDLINE II-Ti device is meant to optimize topography for cellular attachment and proliferation.
Bacterin acquires X-spine, becomes Xtant Medical
Bacterin became Xtant Medical after purchasing outstanding common stock of X-spine Systems. Bacterin purchased X-spine's outstanding common stock in exchange for around 4.24 million shares of Bacterin common stock and around $60 million in cash. Bacterin has a stronger financial profile after acquiring X-spine, including more than $80 million of revenue and a positive EBITDA.
High-frequency spinal cord stimulation yields higher patient satisfaction
Patients who received high-frequency SCS saw greater reductions in pain than those patients who received traditional SCS treatment, according to a study in Anesthesiology. High-frequency SCS operates by sending pulses of 10,000 Hz in comparison to low frequency SCS which sends pulses of 40 to 60 Hz.85 percent of HF10 back patients and 83 percent of HF10 leg patients recorded a 50 percent or higher decrease in pain, while only 44 percent of back pain patients and 56 percent of leg patients in the traditional SCS recorded a 50 percent of higher decrease in pain.
Global MIS instruments market expected to reach $14B+ by 2019
The global minimally invasive surgical instruments market is expected to rapidly grow, with the orthopedic surgery segment as the fastest-growing market. It is driven by an increasing demand for MIS procedures in orthopedic and cosmetic surgeries as well as increasing surgical procedures among the elderly. Medtronic, Smith & Nephew, Aesculap and Stryker will be at the market's frontline.
Amendia acquires Custom Spine
Amendia acquired Custom Spine, a New Jersey-based company with the rights to 40 patents. This combined company will allow Amendia to gain more traction in the spine market, with access to devices like Pathway AVID.
National neurosurgery registry wins CMS PQRS approval
The National Neurosurgery Quality Outcomes Database was approved as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry in the CMS Physician Quality Reporting System for 2015. Neurosurgeons now have access to specialty-specific measures for use in public quality reporting programs. It's expected that neurosurgeons will use the register to fulfill PQRS requirements, thus bolstering the database with extensive information.
Oklahoma Surgical Hospital receives CMS 5-star rating for patient satisfaction
CMS honored Oklahoma Surgical Hospital with a five-star rating, based on patient satisfaction with communication, cleanliness, noise, staff, pain management and post-discharge recovery directions. Oklahoma Surgical Hospital offers orthopedic, neurosurgery, general surgery, urology, gynecology and ENT services.
Envision Healthcare partners with InTouch Health to expand reach of telemedicine
Envision Healthcare, parent to physician-led companies, will partner with InTouch Health, a telepath platform, to provide an expanded network of patient care in acute, ambulatory and community care settings. The partnership will allow access to an audience of 14.6 million patients and more than 4,600 hospitals in 2,100 communities across 41 states.
Japanese medical device company joins Materialise to create hip technology
Materialise signed a five-year partnership with Japan Medical Dynamic Marketing. Japan Medical Dynamic Marketing, a company with 18 sales branches, will work with Materialise to market its total hip replacement guide system. Materialise creates three-dimensional software and printing solutions for medical image-based guide technology.
