Orthopedic activity heats up in the Midwest: 10 updates in 50 days

Here are 10 orthopedic center acquisitions, openings, expansions, affiliations and partnerships in the Midwest that Becker's has reported on since Sept. 6:

1. Bloomington, Minn.-based Twin Cities Orthopedics opened a 70,000-square-foot campus in Plymouth, Minn. 

2. Westerville-based Central Ohio Primary Care and orthopedic management organization OrthoAlliance entered into a value-based partnership to bring orthopedic care to Central Ohio. 

3. Canfield, Ohio-based Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates opened a $14 million medical office building in Boardman, Ohio.

4. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Orthopedic Institute started construction on a two-story, 70,000-square-foot building in Tea, S.D.

5. Orthopedic Care Partners affiliated with George Paletta, MD, and Steven Stahle, MD, and announced the formation of the Performance Sports Medicine Institute in Kirkwood, Mo.

6. Geneva, Ill.-based Fox Valley Orthopedics added a new location in Yorkville, Ill.

7. Two years ago, the Iowa Board of Regents gave Iowa City-based University of Iowa permission to construct a 469,000-square-foot hospital in North Liberty. Administrators have now confirmed that the system plans to move "the majority" of its orthopedic and sports medicine program to the new facility.

8. Indianapolis-based OrthoIndy opened a new hospital and facility in Brownsburg, Ind.

9. American Medical Administrators acquired Macon, Mo.-based Midwest Bone and Joint Center and its ASC.

10. Indiana Joint Replacement Institute broke ground on a $28 million hip and knee replacement center in Noblesville.
