Surgeons performing Orthokine take donor blood from the patient’s arm and spin it in a centrifuge and then inject it back into the damaged site. This is the same procedure Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant underwent last year when he experienced weakness in his right knee and left ankle.
The injection can reduce inflammation to alleviate pain, but the long term effects of the treatment are unknown, according to the report.
